Most areas surrounding Fyr’s Shadow were born of followers to the Nine main Gods of the pantheon or one of the lesser deities. Thornburrow is one of those places. Initially created as a camping ground for a small family of Gnomes who professed Ioun and his knowledge in the year 1037 I.B. it quickly grew to the size of a small town as other Gnomes and Halflings found their way to the region.

When Manik Hollensbee, a dignitary from Tonshire, found his way to the region, he grew to like its land and surroundings Because of a Gnomes impressive ability to move as freely as sand in the wind, he was already capable of staying after convinced his family of his decision. However he was not interested in staying behind the walls of Fyr’s Shadow as he was accustomed to large expanses of fields and open land with hills expanding the countryside so he instead set out to find suitable land near the city. After few weeks of travel he came upon a small plot that he found striking on the southern foothills of Mount Fyr. His only problem was that it was already occupied by rather large herd of Centaur who were currently using the area for grazing.

Hollnesbee had made up his mind that he wanted this land but would not be one to take it by force so instead he approached the Centaur and sought to barter a deal with them that would be mutually beneficial to both sides. The Centaur are not known as being vicious but they are known to be incredibly territorial and will attack any they see as a threat so he knew to placate these creatures if he was to get what he wanted. It took the greater part of a week to garner their attention and interest in speaking with him. It took two more weeks of negotiations before a deal was reached. After such deliberation, a deal was finally struck between him and the leader of the heard, a mare of middle age named Olapoth.

While Centauri do not recognize land ownership, they do recognize sacred spots for both their own cultures and those of others. The deal that was reached between the two was that they would not invade or take advantage of any crop or yield reached by the Gnome’s work or the work of any that lived with him in the region so long as their heritage sites in the area were shown respect and protected. They also claimed that Hollnesbee should mark the area he sought to call his home with his own temple consecrating the ground before they would agree to move their herds to other lands. It took another three years of construction between him, his family, and any Centauri that would lend a hand before the temple was completed. On the day the structure was completed in the year 1040 I.B. all who participated celebrated and bonds were created between the Gnome and the Centauri.

As the town grew from newer members, it quickly became known by others in the region as the Half Village as a slight joke to its residents but this only served to draw the attention of other Gnome and Halfling which were searching for land with familiar surroundings. In the last 74 years it has grown peacefully and Manik Hollensbee has taken on a leadership position in the continued growth and prosperity of the town. Even as he gets older he continues to lead, guiding his daughter in the ways of proper leadership skills hoping to cement a legacy for the area moving forward.
